Why Google is the World’s Biggest PIMP
Posted on 15. Aug, 2007 by Chad in Online Advertising
- They don’t actually create any content themselves. They sponge off the hard work of bloggers worldwide, using their content to display Google ads and they pocket most of the money, just like real pimps do to their hookers. Yes, if you have a blog and you are running Google AdSense, you are Google’s Hooker, and Google is your pimp.- They don’t tell you how much they make off your content. Yes, that is correct. It is a business partnership, but they take the money from the end client first, they don’t tell you how much they get, keep as much as they want, and give you however much of the leftovers they feel like. Just like a Pimp does to his hookers, he gets paid first without telling them what he charges.
- They bully you into thinking that you cannot stand up to them and say anything bad about them or your SEO results might drop, or you Google PR might suddenly dip. Just like real world pimps do to their hookers, they bully them into feeling like they have no choice but to stay with the pimp.
- Google threatens you if you decide to make some of your own money off selling your own text links on your own site. Google does not want you to make any side cash that cutts them out of the deal. If Google finds out that you are cheating on them they will probably also cutt your PR ranking down to size. Almost like real world pimps except they probably beat their hookers if they earn money somewhere else.
- They will take anything they can get. Yes, just like hookers who really don’t have any standard as to who they do business with, Google again has absolutely no standards. They will let any site run Google AdSense, it doesn’t matter if the content is stolen, ripped off, questionable, nonsensical, full of profanity, racist, complete garbage, duplicated, never updated and just plan crap, Google will bang it.
- Just like real world pimps who already have low ethical standards and don’t usually have any problems promoting and/or making money off other illegal activity, Google too, does not care if companies who are advertising on their network are committing federal offenses. Selling counterfeits of registered trademarked material is illegal and is actually a federal offense in many countries including the good old US of A, where Google is headquartered. Does Google care if thousands of companies are selling counterfeits through its advertising service? Hell no. Do a quick search on Google for “Louis Vuitton” Probably one of the most ripped off brands in the world. This search you will not only finds tonnes of companies selling illegal products, try to actually find a legit one. (Vuitton sued Google successfully in Feb 2005 for this very reason and they still turn a blind eye.) Does Google refuse this money? Why would they?
Because…They are the biggest pimp on earth!

Google is a damn pimp. I love the analogies you’ve made too, Chad, and I think I’ll have to link to you from my own Google Sucks page.

These points are very true.
Though they have started giving feed to new comers on the web. They made it easy to earn. But we are going to pay huge cost one day. They are getting into almost all the private data of the world. By hook or crook they are sitting on the biggest data warehouse of the world. They have potential to analyze this and come up with 200 commercial plans to target business. Based on this data they will not have any enemy in future, since they will know weakest point of all.

Forgive my english, which isn’t my ntaive lang.
There is always a considerable amount of hysteria in bloggers. It seems that we can’t deal with our own obsessions, and that every outlet we see is an immediate occasion for our permanently overflooding hatred of everything.
There is nothing in the least that terrible about Google. Rather the contrary, I bet that nearly 100% (yes, I said 100%) of the bloggers out there would not collect more than five (yes I said five) visits a week if it weren’t for the folks brought to them by Google searches.
So, while debating a point that may have some interesting or true aspects, we ought to make a good service to our cause, and avoid destroying its credibility with our own hands entering the realm of verbal abuse simply because we can.
The true point with your topic can be explained in a more tranquil way. Google does not need to reveal how much it is earning with our adSense: join adWords to see it.
Stated that i am no adwrod expert, i made a test of a couple of days – i got 3 visitors for a small monthly budegt, in 2 days. What i was billed was 2 dollars and 50 cents.
When I get 3 clicks on my adSense, on the contrary, my average is 0.8 cents per click.
Some say adWords works, but probably it does when you put really a big budget in it: otherwise if one has to pay one dollar to get one visitor, the whole adWords would appear unusable. That was why i suspended it.
So, imho, the point would be: Google should increase our revenues via adSense, and frankly it is unacceptable that one adWord vistor may cost 1 dollar unless you set yourself a max per click amount.
adWords appears outrageously expensive to me, in my brief experience. I wonder how many others quit when they saw 1 visitor costed one buck.
But on the other hand, Google still provides you with the greatest service of all: a search engine that works, and that delivers visitors to you – for free. This would be enough for me to avoid calling it a ‘pimp’, and to say that it’s rather a very good enterprise that should fix a couple of issues.
Fling the first stone who has no issues!

Hi Alberto,
Some interesting points there. I don’t hate all Google products or even Google as a whole. Gmail is one of the best free email services and yes, the Google search engine is still the best. It is the way they conduct business with the Adwords and AdSense that bothers me. You said yourself that Adwords was too expensive. Most people would agree that some of the click rates are just outrageously expensive. So why then are the AdSense users not getting outrageous size payments? The balance is not there. Hence the reason for the over valued 165 billion market cap and the just plain silly stock price of $525. If they were really paying all the hard working bloggers that build the content that they leech off of, those numbers would be much lower.

Well I guess I must be a freak then because NONE of my visitors are coming from Google and at my lowest point I am getting 25 visitors a day but today I got 254 visitors (mostly all from stumbled upon). It depends on how you market yourself.

Google is owned by a Russian guy and Russians are smart people. Google has nice business structure and soon it will take over all the internet before you know it. So stop complaining and accept the reality. You and your blogs are the two drops in the ocean and you can not fight the stream. Better start discuss Bill Gates and his monopoly with windows.

I have gotten search traffic from the smaller search engines such as
ask, abc search.com,7search, miva, findology. I don,t get as much traffic but it seems to be a more mature customer.
